John Mercurio

Concentrations
John is a founding
principal of the Firm and has served as Managing Principal of the Firm,
directing its overall operations since 1977. His areas of expertise
include:
- medical accounting
- restaurant accounting
- non profit Organizations
- condominium accounting
- circus
accounting
- audit services
- peer review services for Certified Public
Accountants
- tax preparation
- planning for businesses and individuals
including multi state income, sales, fund and payroll tax.
John also
directs the quality control and compliance portion of our practice and the
business valuation.
Qualifications
John began his
career in public accounting with his father's tax and accounting practice which
he later acquired. He is licensed to practice as a CPA in the state of
Florida. John is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Other
John has provided countless hours of time as a volunteer and board member for
numerous Organizations. He currently serves on the advisory board of the
Sarasota County Chamber of Commerce Arts Council and Pelican Man's Bird
Sanctuary. He is a life time member of the Sarasota Jaycees and Florida Jaycees
Senators. He is actively involved in the leadership of his church.
John is a native Floridian, but enjoys travel and family time.

Jon Bridgford
Principal
University of Maryland
B.S. Accounting 1972
ConcentrationsJon has served as a managing partner, primarily directing workflow and
personnel supervision. His areas of expertise include estate and trust tax
planning, small business management accounting and individual income tax
planning.
Qualifications
Jon started his career in Washington, DC/Maryland with a large local public
accounting firm. He moved to Florida in 1974, became certified and joined
in the formation of Mercurio & Bridgford, P.A., CPA's. Jon is a member of
the Florida Institute of CPA's and the American Institute of CPA's.
Notations
Jon's outside interests include his Harley, skiing and fishing.
Carl Smith
Shareholder
University of South Florida, B.A., ACCOUNTING, 1982
ConcentrationsCarl had served with the Firm since 1982. His areas of expertise
include business and personal taxation and planning, auditing and management
advisory services. Carl directs the auditing portion of our practice.
Qualifications
Carl graduated Cum Laude from the University of South Florida. He began
his career in public accounting with a Florida regional firm in 1981. He
is a CPA licensed to practice in the State of Florida and is a member of the
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of
Certified Public Accountants.
Other
Carl has provided countless hours to various civic and not for profit
Organizations as a board member and volunteer. As a life-long resident of
Florida Carl enjoys most outdoor activities but especially enjoys the golf
and tennis offered by the Sarasota area.
Keith Willis
University of Florida, BSA 1980
Experiences
Keith joined the firm in 1999. His areas of
expertise include business planning, accounting and taxation, accounting
software applications installation, implementation and training and
information systems technology. Keith also directs and administrates
the information systems used in our practice.
Qualifications
Keith began his career in public accounting with a large local firm in Fort
Meyers, Florida. He is a licensed CPA in the state of Florida. Keith
is a member of the American and the Florida Institute of Certified Public
Accountants.
Community and Professional Organizations
Keith served as an officer of the Sunrise Kiwanis Club for several years and
has donated many hours to local youth Organizations including Sarasota Bicycle
Motocross teams and Organizations and the Suncoast Foundation for the
Handicapped. Keith is a native of Sarasota and an avid water sports
enthusiast.
Jennifer Carvalho
Staff Auditor

ConcentrationsJennifer has served as the primary staff auditor since 1998. Her areas
of concentration include non-profit Organizations and manufacturing
corporations. Jennifer also maintains several bookkeeping clients and
assists in preparation of business and personal income tax returns.
Qualifications
Jennifer has over four years of auditing experience in industries such as
Manufacturing, Low Income Housing, Homeowners Associations, Fundraising and
Cultural Arts Organizations
Notations
Jennifer is currently preparing to sit for the Florida CPA exam in November.
Rick McCarthy
ConcentrationsRick joined the firm in February 2000. Primary duties in the firm are
directed to Corporate, Fiduciary and Estate Tax.
Qualifications
Graduated from the University of South Florida in 1983 with a B.A. in
accounting. Began his career with an International Firm in Tampa FL.
He has over fifteen years of Public Accounting experience primarily relating to
tax issues.
Sue Gordon
ConcentrationsSue has been with the firm for over fifteen years. Has done
bookkeeping for a varied type of businesses. Strong areas are bank
reconciliations and payroll taxes. Also knowledgeable on sales, tangible
and intangible taxes. Familiar with different accounting software.
Qualifications
Took High School bookkeeping and College Accounting I & II, receiving all
A'sl. On the job training for 37 years.
Notations
Intend to remain with the Firm until she retires.
Gail Tipner
ConcentrationsIn charge of billing, circus input and financial check writing, phones and
research.
Qualifications
Accounts receivable and accounts payable experience, check writing and
various accounting skills as well as experience in payroll, freight routing,
claims adjustments, medical report filing, various computer skills and billing
procedures.
Notations
Long time member of community blood bank, private school board member and
officer - treasurer and financial secretary for Lutheran Church, also Financial
Board Member. Member and treasurer of local Homeowners Association, have done
collections for march of dines, Muscular Dystrophy and cancer fund.
